Budget 2021 will be announced in just two weeks, on 19th October, Government whip Glenn Bedingfield said following a Monday afternoon meeting of the House Business Committee.
The Committee meeting took place ahead of Monday’s first Parliamentary session after the summer recess.
Mr Bedingfield also said that the Opposition will be giving its official reply to the Budget in Parliament one week later, on 26th October.
Remarks by the Prime Minister will follow the next day, on 27th October. On those days, the Parliamentary sittings will start at 6pm.
In addition, all financial estimates debates will be held by no later than 6th November, with Parliament meeting twice or three times daily.
During the House Business Committee meeting, Opposition Whip, Robert Cutajar, revealed that the newly-elected PN leader, Bernard Grech, will be sworn in as MP on Tuesday.
The public, however, will be prevented from watching from the stranger’s gallery, in line with COVID-19 restrictions. An exception sill be made for Dr Grech’s relatives for the occasion of him being sworn in.
Dr Grech will be taking the seat vacated by PN MP Ivan J Bartolo, and is expected to be sworn in as Opposition leader this Wednesday, at the Office of the President.
