Shakinah is the first catering venture for Alex and Berta Aquilina, who have teamed up with well-known TV personality Manuel Aquilina, also an internationally trained patissier and food connoisseur.
Strategically situated on the St Julian’s seafront, within walking distance from Balluta Bay, Shakinah presents Indian tastes, scents and flavours in an interesting selection of exquisitely prepared, colourful, individual dishes.
Great emphasis has been placed on the décor, mood and general ambiance. The end result is a highly contemporary yet elegant living room-style décor that is entirely co-ordinated and fully air-conditioned.
Similar attention to detail was paid to the choice of fresh ingredients, oriental spices and interesting flavours which are brought over from India to give a truly authentic touch. All food is prepared by native-born Indian chefs who have many years of international experience.
Shakinah offers a large selection of vegetarian options, whilst all their meats are halal. The full menu is also available for take-out and delivery.
