Chamber welcomes Safer Neighbourhood Scheme

18th July 2020

The Malta Chamber has been vociferous in the past on the need for the construction and building industry to be held to higher levels of professionality especially in the context of recent tragedies leading to the loss of an innocent life and injuries that could have easily been avoided.

The Malta Chamber of Commerce, Enterprise and Industry welcomes the ‘Safer Neighbourhood Scheme’ presented by The Malta Developers Association on Friday. This is considered a step in the right direction although the country and the sector is far from close to the desired destination in terms of improvement in standards of professionality in ascertaining truly safer neighbourhoods for all.

The Malta Chamber has been vociferous in the past on the need for the construction and building industry to be held to higher levels of professionality especially in the context of recent tragedies leading to the loss of an innocent life and injuries that could have easily been avoided.

The Malta Chamber's Building and Construction Committee was recently established with a similar aim with the support of Engel & Völkers, and shall continue to follow developments closely while it leads responsible and researched policy propositions intended towards driving the much needed upward shift in this crucial industry.
