Clint Camilleri has been appointed Minister for Gozo following the resignation of Justyne Caruana.
Newly appointed Prime Minister Robert Abela confirmed his Cabinet just last week, on 15th January, where he appointed Mr Camilleri Minister for Agricultural Policy, Fishing, Animal Rights and Consumer Protection, Dr Caruana as Gozo Minister while leaving former Gozo Minister Anton Refalo out of his Cabinet entirely.
Following revelations that Dr Caruana’s husband, former Deputy Police Commissioner Silvio Valletta had travelled with business mogul Yorgen Fenech while the latter was under investigations in relation with the murder of journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia, Dr Caruana chose to tender her resignation.
As a result, Mr Camilleri was made Minister for Gozo while Dr Refalo was given the Ministry for Agriculture, Fishing and Animal Right portfolio.
Dr Refalo was Minister for Gozo under former Prime Minister Joseph Muscat between 2013 and 2017, after which Dr Muscat replaced him with Dr Caruana.
Dr Refalo is expected to be officially sworn in later today.
