Malta Chamber Director General Kevin J. Borg accompanied the Prime Minister Hon Dr Robert Abela and Minister for the Economy, Investment, and Small Business the Hon Silvio Schembri, on a visit to Republic Street's retail outlets this week.

Malta Chamber Director General Kevin J. Borg accompanied the Prime Minister Hon Dr Robert Abela and Minister for the Economy, Investment, and Small Business the Hon Silvio Schembri, on a visit to Republic Street's retail outlets this week.

During the visits, together with the Prime Minister, Mr Borg spoke with the various retailers about the current economic situation, especially in the light of the recent events which characterized the last weeks in Malta.

The walk-about was in line with the Chamber’s efforts to meet with business owners and learn first hand what is affectively determining business and what their prospects are.

In the last days Chamber President David Xuereb, accompanied by Business Development Manager Stefan Bajada visited a number of businesses around Malta and reached out to the operators in the field, to take stock of the business sentiment.

Addressing the media at the end of the Republic Street walk-about, the Malta Chamber Director General thanked Dr Abela for receiving the Chamber only three days following his appointment, and for being receptive to its concerns and proposals on Good Governance.

Mr Borg noted that the Chamber would also be taking an active role in the consultation process relating to late night shopping, with the Valletta Local Council.
