Employees And Customers Of HSBC Zejtun Safe Following Attempted Hold-Up

The attempted hold-up of an HSBC branch by a hooded man with a firearm was reported at around 11.15am, the police said.

HSBC Bank Malta has confirmed that employees and customers are safe and unharmed and no one was injured following an attempted hold-up at the HSBC branch in Zejtun.

The man fled the scene empty-handed, after bank workers blocked the entrance. A spokesman for HSBC Malta confirmed that a person of interest is currently in police custody as the investigation is underway.

HSBC Malta thanked the police for a swift and effective response, and confirmed that the Zejtun  branch will reopen tomorrow as per normal hours.
