In view of the introduction of Excise Duties on a number of new product groups, the Malta Chamber of Commerce, Enterprise and Industry, in cooperation with the Ministry of Finance and the Customs Department, is organising an information session to update members on the recently implemented administrative processes including those relating to tax warehouses and duty payments.

The information session is mainly intended for member companies which produce/import/distribute goods included in the excise duty regime, particularly those product groups introduced by Budget 2017 and which came into force as of 1st January 2017. The new product groups included in the Excise regime include toiletry products such as perfumes, beauty products, hair care products, personal hygiene products, shampoo, soap products, shower gels, deodorants, aftershave and room-deodorisers. Excise duties have also been introduced on construction components and related objects such as pre-fabricated concrete structures, ceramic tiles, glass sheets, steel rods and steel beams. The Budget also included Excise duty increases on non-alcoholic beverages and plastic bags.

On Monday 13th February at 15:00hrs, representatives from the Customs Department shall be providing all relevant information while also responding to any queries or clarification requests so as to ensure that companies experience a smooth implementation of excise duty requirements.

Attendance is free of charge however seating is limited. Kindly contact Ms Cheryl Cardona on cheryl.cardona@maltachamber.org.mt in order to register by Friday 10th February.
