While uncertainty continues to be a main theme of the COVID-19 crisis, GlobalCapital Life Insurance Ltd Managing Director Cristina Casingena shares the company’s strategy to ensure staff safety, and explores how its life insurance policy can provide clients with cover during this uncertain time.
How is GlobalCapital Life Insurance handling the crisis situation created by the COVID-19 pandemic?
This pandemic has changed everyone’s behaviour and at GlobalCapital Life Insurance we immediately adopted measures to minimise the risk of infection among our staff members, while at the same time working to ensure business suffered as few disruptions as possible. To attain this, our Chairman, Paolo Catalfamo, went a step further by screening staff for COVID-19 with rapid testing kits capable of detecting the presence of antibodies in humans against the disease in just 15 minutes.
All this was done to ensure the safety of our employees who have continued to work hard to provide our clients with the best possible service.
We are relying heavily on flexible work arrangements and virtual meetings, while employees have been provided with updated digital toolkits to facilitate remote working.
All this takes some getting used to, especially since we also wanted to ensure we continue to provide existing and potential customers with a safe environment, while at the same time maintaining the level and quality of our service. But with everyone’s collaboration, we’re now running a relatively smooth operation.
We have also decided to take advantage of the digital tools available to stay connected with our potential and existing clients and we’ve initiated an online campaign to promote our protection products – Life Protect and Loan Protect.
Why is purchasing life insurance now more important than ever?
I think this pandemic has accentuated a greater need for life insurance. People need life insurance to deal with the unexpected, and this virus has created an unprecedented crisis, which led most of us to worry about our safety and our lives.
As part of our Employee Benefits Package, all our employees have a life insurance cover.
What does this campaign involve? And how can clients benefit?
Thankfully, technology has facilitated our lives tremendously and our sales representatives can freely communicate with existing and potential clients and guide them through the documentation via Skype, Facebook Messenger, Facetime, and WhatsApp, among others.
Social distancing may have had an impact on businesses, however, if we adjust to the digital evolution, we can remain connected.
Considering how many people have been affected by this crisis, in collaboration with our intermediaries, we are granting clients two months' free cover, up to a maximum of €100 per month. [This is applicable to the first 200 customers who apply.]
If the client wishes to keep the insurance policy in force, they will have to pay the premium from the third month onwards.
What is your message during these difficult times?
We encourage everybody to listen to the instructions issued by the Health Authorities on a daily basis and stay safe.
