Gozo ferry services suspended due to weather conditions

The Gozo Channel company said its team was successful in maintaining services throughout the night and on Tuesday morning, despite gale-force winds.

The Gozo Channel announced that it has suspended its ferry services between Malta and Gozo until further notice due to stormy weather conditions.

In a statement made on Facebook on Tuesday at around noon, the Gozo Channel team said it was successful in maintaining ferry services throughout the night and on Tuesday morning, despite gale-force winds.

Videos circulating online show one of the Gozo Channel ferries rocking wildly as it ferried passengers between Malta and Gozo.

Ferry services between Malta and Siciliy have also been suspended. Virtu Ferries, according to a Times of Malta report, is also cancelling scheduled trips on Wednesday 14th November.

Winds are not expected to die down until Wednesday evening.

The catamaran service between Malta and Sicily remains suspended, but Virtu Ferries said extra trips would be operated on Thursday.
