Industrial production decreases from August to September

Despite the decrease, when comparing September 2019 with the same period last year, working day industrial production actually increased by 3.8 per cent.

In September 2019, the seasonally adjusted index of industrial production decreased by 3.7 per cent over the previous month, a press release by the National Statistics Office said on Wednesday.

When compared to September 2018, the working-day adjusted index of industrial production increased by 3.8 per cent

Decreases in industrial production when comparing August and September 2019 were registered in all the main industrial groupings, namely energy (5.6 per cent), intermediate goods (2.0 per cent), capital goods (1.5 per cent) and consumer goods (1.1 per cent).

Increases when comparing with September 2018 were registered in the production of consumer goods (12.2 per cent) and capital goods (6.1 per cent). The production of energy and intermediate goods decreased by 6.5 per cent and 3.7 per cent respectively.
