Maltese macaron lovers rejoice as the news that the famous French luxury bakery Ladurée will be bringing its world-famous delicious treats to the Maltese market.
Malta Today reports on an announcement by the board of directors of the company Testa Finance plc to the Stock Exchange that its trading arm Testa Catering Concepts entered into an agreement with Ladurée International SA and Patisserie E. Ladurée SAS.
The agreement covers 10 years and will see the Ladurée brand set up shop in Malta while Testa Group will be running its franchise locally.
It is estimated that 15,000 macarons are sold each day, while the brand was established in 1862. It is best known for its double-decker macaron.
Holder business group, owning PAUL bakery chain in France, took over Ladurée in 1993, which saw the brand go from a single bakery on Rue Royale to a chain, which led to the opening of pastry shops and tea rooms on the Champs- Élysées and in Le Printemps Haussmann in 1997.
