La Valette Club at Malta International Airport was a close second in the Best Lounge in Europe category, beaten to the top spot only by Tallinn Airport Business Lounge at Lennart Meri Tallinn Airport in Estonia.
The independent lounge membership programme organisers said the awards were based on 72,000 ratings by its members. The awards aim to recognise airport lounges offering the best service, experience, refreshments and business facilities.
Ahlan Business Class Lounge at Dubai International was named top lounge in the Middle East & Africa, while the SATS Premier Lounge Terminal 2 at Singapore Changi International Airport was named Asia Pacific Lounge of the Year. The Salon VIP Lounge at Québec City Jean Lesage International was the winner in the North America category.
The overall winner was Club Kingston at Jamaica’s Kingston Norman Manley International Airport.
"Travellers increasingly know what they want, and are not willing to settle for less. As a result, we’re seeing increased investment and recognition of the value of lounges from airports, airlines, financial institutions and other organisations worldwide," said Priority Pass Director Justin Banon.
"This is great news for business and leisure travellers, as it means a wider choice of venues offering exceptional service, refreshments and unique facilities to meet different travellers’ needs."
