Malta Chamber Board of Management in Place

The Board of Management is tasked with advising Council on policy matters and the administration of the Chamber.

Following the electoral process which took place in March, the Malta Chamber’s newly elected Council convened for the first time on Friday 29th to elect Perit David Xuereb as President, to lead the organisation for the next two years.

Next was the establishment of the Board of Management, which is tasked with advising Council on policy matters and the administration of the Chamber.

Marisa Xuereb who hails from the Manufacturing Economic Group was elected Deputy President, while Mr Hugh Arrigo (Services Economic Group) and Mr Frank V. Farrugia (Importers Economic Group) were elected Vice-Presidents.

Ms Liz Barbaro Sant (Services Economic Group), Mr Andrew W.J. Mamo (Importers Economic Group) and Mr Matthias Fauser (Manufacturing Economic Group) were elected Officers on the Board of Management.


Marisa Xuereb is an economist and Managing Director of Raesch Quarz (Malta) Ltd, a German-owned manufacturing company producing quartz glass components that has been operating from the Mosta Technopark for the past 22 years. She is Chairperson of the Mosta Technopark Tenants Association, a post that she has occupied since 2006.

Over the course of her career, she has lectured at the University of Malta and undertaken research for the Central Bank of Malta and the Institute for Prospective Technological Studies of the EC’s Joint Research Centre. Since 2015, she has served on the Council of the Chamber as a member of the Manufacturing Economic Group.  She is also Director of Malta Enterprise, the Malta Life Science Park and Education Malta, and sits on the Technology Development Programme Committee of MCST.


Hugh Arrigo is Director within Attard & Co Ltd. and also a Founder Director and largely responsible for the establishment of the following JV companies operating within the Attard & Co Group of Cos. World Express Logistics - logistics providers also including the provision of Supplier Managed Inventory & Vendor Managed Inventory services.

Evolve limited - servicing the Pharma companies, the hospital, the university, the food and beverage industry and the microchip industry both in Malta and overseas. First Bridge -provision of financial services,T4 B Technology for Buildings Servicing the building industry with an emphasis on green solutions.

ProSecure Services limited - servicing the forensic and security industries with the provision of border control solutions, development of software also offering biometric solutions. Attard & Co Imaging Offering consultancy and total solutions to the prepress industry including the provision of software, hardware, total preventive and care support services on a 24 x 7 basis

Mr Arrigo has served on the Chamber’s Council in 2015 and 2017. He is also a founder council member of the Maltese Chinese Chamber of Commerce and a Council Member of the Maltese Libyan Chamber.


Frank V. Farrugia is owner and managing director of Alphacom Int. Services Co Ltd, a company specialising in the supply of textiles, industrial sewing machines and all related equipment, as well as Alcom Enterprises Co Ltd, which specialises in the supply in of professional tools, all garage equipment, engineering solutions, exhaust extraction systems, Industrial maintenance and treatment chemicals, industrial plant and heavy equipment, RO’s and water treatment technology. Besides the Maltese market, the group also exports and offers its services to companies in North Africa.

In June 1973, he became a shareholder, partner, director in the newly formed company Universal Import and Export Ltd. 1975 -1991 Sales and marketing Director at Universal Import and Export Ltd, Shareholder and Director at Persal Co. Ltd manufacturing hosiery, underwear, and other garments, Shareholder and Director of Saltex Co. Ltd involved in the production of garments for export to the German and Scandinavian market. During this period, he undertook various courses in management, marketing and sales in Malta and also in France, Germany and the Far East.

He joined the Malta Chamber of Commerce in 1976 and has since held various posts, most notably President between 2017-2019. He served on the board of the Building Industry Consultative Council. In his own right, Mr Farrugia was also director of Malta Counter-trade. He also served as President of the Lions Club (Malta) Host.

Andrew Mamo is Managing Director of Galdes & Mamo Ltd. He has been a member of the Malta Chamber since 1990. Mr. Mamo has served regularly on Council since 2001 and as an Officer from 2003 to 2013 as well as on a number of other Executive Committees. For the last two years he has served as Chairman of Importers, Distributors and Retailers Economic Group. Mr. Mamo is one of the Malta Chamber's representatives on the Conservatorio Vincenzo Bugeja.


Matthias Fauser is the Chief Executive Officer of PLAYMOBIL Malta Ltd. The Group of Companies was originally set up in Malta in 1971 and today employs approximately 1200 people. Currently PLAYMOBIL Malta Ltd is extending its factory premises to include a new extension block.

Matthias Fauser has been employed with PLAYMOBIL Malta Ltd. since 1992 when he first was engaged as Manager of the Printing Department, consecutively he held the post of Chief Operating Officer until October 2012, following which he became the company’s CEO.

He held a managerial post with another international manufacturing company in Malta from 1989 to 1992. Matthias Fauser is a tool maker by profession (Master Craftsman) and worked in the automotive supply industry in Germany before he came to Malta. Matthias Fauser upgraded his professional background through distance studies and holds a degree as “Technischer Betriebswirt” (Technical Economist).
