Malta Discusses Collaborating With Singapore On Digital Economy, Cyber Security

Singaporean companies expected to announce operations extending to Malta in the coming days.

Malta is in discussions with Singapore on future collaborations in the areas of digital economy and cyber security, with Singapore-based companies set to announce their decision of extending their operations in Malta in the coming days.

Parliamentary Secretary Silvio Schembri met with the Senior Minister of State, Ministry of Communication and IT Janil Puthucheary to discuss the developments and achievements within the digital economy, as well as blockchain and the cryptosphere.

“The scope of the visit was to get a better understanding about Singapore’s strategy and policies adopted over the past years to identify areas that could be implemented in Malta,” Mr Schembri said. “As a Government, we would like to bolster the digital economy which would be of great benefit for the industries and the Maltese citizens.”

Mr Schembri also met with the administration of the Singapore Stock Exchange as well as with several tech companies and others in the blockchain sphere. Some of these companies are going to be part of DELTA Summit, which will be held between the 3rd and 5th of October.
