List of Candidates:
Norman Aquilina is the Group Chief Executive of Simonds Farsons Cisk Plc. The Group holds a leading market position in the beverage industry and FMCG sector – apart from brewers and beverage production, the Group includes subsidiaries within the food and beverage importation and fast food franchise business.
Mr Aquilina is a former chairman of the Chamber’s Manufacturers and Other Industries Economic Group. Previously he had the post of Senior Vice-President of the Chamber where he was actively involved in the merger between the Chamber and Federation of Industry (FOI).
He also served as chairman of the Chamber’s EU Steering Committee for the years leading up to Malta’s EU accession. Mr Aquilina is a past president of the Malta Business Bureau.
Ing. Ruben Cuschieri is an Electrical Engineer, having graduated from the University of Malta in 1992. In his 28 years career, he has occupied various management roles in leading local and international companies, gaining vast exposure and experience in the international sphere, particularly in the manufacturing & related Industries sector. Over the years, he has also provided consultancy to a number of local and foreign companies. Since 2019 he has been occupying the role of Managing Director with Motherwell Bridge Industries Ltd., a leading Engineering company with a global reach.
In the past two years, he has served as Council Member of the Chamber and as Vice Chairman of the Manufacturing and other Economic Group committee. Ing. Cuschieri is also a committee member of the Hal Far Tenants Association and represents the Chamber on the Board of Directors of Indis (previously Malta Industrial Parks).
Doreen Cutrona is a co-founder of a manufacturing company in the plastic industry. She is graduated in Leadership & Management from the Institute of Leadership & Management in the UK.
She is a self-driven business leader and with the goal to expand the business, she has successfully enabled the company to diversify into multi sectors and internationalizing by exporting its products to Spain, India, Dublin, USA, North Africa and Middle East.
She is a Director on board of Business 1st, the one stop shop for businesses. She is married, the mother of four children and a firm believer of “being optimist, setting impossible goals making them possible and leading by example”.
General Manager at Multi Packaging Limited, manufacturers of corrugated board and boxes and a subsidiary of M Demajo Group.
Brian Muscat has been working in the Manufacturing Sector for the past 34 years.
In 2015 he was co-opted to the Executive Board of the Manufacturers and other Industries Economic Group at the Malta Chamber and up to today still forms part of this Group.
He represents the Chamber as Director on the MBB and FPEI Boards.
He is also the Chairperson of BIETA (Bulebel Industrial Estate Tenants Association) and also a council member of the Libyan Maltese Chamber of Commerce group.
Joseph Pace qualified as a Certified Public Accountant in 1976. Between 1971 and 1981 Joseph Pace was employed at Dowty (Malta) Ltd. in the position of Cost Management Accountant.
Between 1981 and 1984 he was financial controller of Maritim Selmun Palace Hotel a joint venture between Air Malta and Maritim a German hotels operator and leisure travel company.
In 1984 Joseph Pace joined Consolidated Biscuit Co. Ltd. as Group Financial Controller. He was appointed General Manager in 1987 and Managing Director in 1990. Consolidated Biscuit Co. Ltd. was incorporated in 1981 to manufacture biscuits under a Technical Assistance and Trademark Licensing Agreement with United Biscuits of the United Kingdom. In 1985 Consolidated Biscuit diversified successfully into snack foods production. The Company was the first food company in Malta to introduce a HACCP food safety system and to become ISO9002 compliant. It currently employs over 150 employees and exports seventy five percent of its production.
Besides being the managing director of Consolidated Biscuit Co. Ltd. Joe Pace is currently serving as a director on the boards of Gamay Investments Limited and Trade Malta. Since early 2001 Joseph Pace has also been a member of the Governing Council of the Malta Federation of Industry and since the merger of the Federation with the Chamber of Commerce he serves on the latter Council and participates in a number of working groups.
Joseph is married to Lilian and they have three children, Roseanne, Stephen and Elaine.
Mr Kevin Rapinett enjoyed a rewarding career of 33 years in the banking and finance industry. He occupied senior positions at HSBC Bank Malta ranging from Head of Global Markets and Investment Banking, Managing Director and Stockbroker of HSBC Stockbrokers (Malta) Ltd and Head of Wholesale Credit Risk and Deputy Chief Risk Officer.
In 2012, Kevin was appointed as Head of Corporate Banking during which time he was also seconded to HSBC Commercial Banking in London.
In March 2020, Kevin was appointed Group Chief Executive Officer of Halmann Vella Group. Kevin is also a non-executive director of Medserv Plc and M&Z (Marketing) Limited.
Marisa Xuereb has served as Deputy President for the last two years, during which she has been actively involved in the renewal process of the Chamber, championing initiatives such as the Young Chamber Network.
She was tasked with strengthening links with Malta Enterprise, MCAST and MCST, and is a Director on the Chamber’s PPP, Education Malta. As an economist, she has contributed substantially to the consolidation of the Chamber’s Policy Department.
As Managing Director of Raesch Quarz (Malta) Ltd, she has 24 years of experience in the FDI manufacturing industry and direct experience of exporting to a wide range of countries.
Nick was elected to the Chamber Council and Manufacturers and Other Industries Economic Group in March 2015 and has been an active member since. Nick, is an accountant by profession, starting his career with PwC in 1988 and consequently moved to manufacturing in 1999 with one of Malta's iconic manufacturing companies, Trelleborg as Finance Director, a post he occupied for 12 years until 2011. During his time in Trelleborg, Nick actively involved himself in a number of initiatives with the FOI and subsequently with the Chamber. Nick was also Chairman of the Lotteries and Gaming Authority between 2008 and 2013, during a period that the gaming industry flourished in Malta.
In addition, Nick occupied the post of CFO of Air Malta, being part of an international team that drove a major restructuring programme of the national airline, reducing considerably the airline's losses. In June 2014, Nick joined Toly Products, as Group CFO, and is also part of the executive management team of Toly, the arm that sets the Group strategy and direction. Toly is a global supplier to the beauty and cosmetics industry with a global presence. The headquarters are in Malta, with manufacturing plants in Malta, China and South Korea, a trading business in Hong Kong, and sales companies in Paris, London, New York, Belgium, Malta and Hong Kong.
