The 19th Amendment guarantees American women the right to vote

American multinational toy manufacturing company Mattel has added a Susan B. Anthony doll as a part of its line of inspiring women to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the US’ 19th Amendment.

The new doll was officially unveiled on 1st October at the National Susan B. Anthony Museum & House in Rochester, New York, and went on sale on Mattel's website yesterday.

“We were delighted that the design team from Mattel reached out to us early in the project, demonstrating their interest in a doll and packaging that would reflect Susan B. Anthony's life and work,” Deborah L. Hughes, president and CEO of the Anthony Museum, said in a news release.

Susan B. Anthony is celebrated for her work in relation to women’s suffrage, culminating in her infamous arrest after voting in the 1872 presidential election at a time in which it was illegal for women to do so.

Making the launch all the more significant, 2020 marks the museum's 75th anniversary and Susan B. Anthony’s 200th birthday.
