MCESD meeting on Chamber’s request on Tuesday

Maltese businesses had been busy trying to get the economy moving again, however a lack of discipline resulted in a new increase in numbers of COVID19 cases.

The Malta Council for the Economic and Social Dialogue (MCESD), will be meeting on the request of The Malta Chamber on Tuesday. During the meeting, the Prime Minister Dr Robert Abela and the Superintendent of Public Health Prof. Charmaine Gauci are expected to be present.

During a telephone link on The 103 Morning Show, President Perit David Xuereb said that the meeting was called by The Malta Chamber as members were becoming increasingly preoccupied by the deteriorating situation in relation to the growing number of registered cases of COVID19.

Perit Xuereb noted how Maltese businesses had been busy trying to get the economy moving again, however a lack of discipline resulted in a new increase in numbers of COVID19 cases.

The President said that the Malta Chamber had suggested a number of dramatic decisions that need to be taken, in order to control the spread of the virus.
