If you were in Gozo for Easter weekend and were surprised by how many non-locals seemed to have appeared on the sister island, rest assured that it’s not just your perception.
The Gozo Channel registered a 10.6 per cent increase in passengers travelling to Gozo during Easter week when compared to the same period last year.
The Ministry for Gozo, which announced the figures this morning, said that this set a new record, with the number of cars increasing by the same amount.
While there were delays at the harbours due to a ferry breaking down, the Gozo Channel actually made 12 more trips over Easter than it did last year.
“This led to decreased waiting time, despite a ferry experiencing technical problems,” the ministry added.
