Earlier this week the ‘M/V Maria Grazia Onorato’ arrived at Valletta port on her maiden voyage. Comprising the Tirrenia and Moby fleets - is the largest operating ro-ro type of vessel being the greenest within its category equipped with latest generation scrubbers.
The ship was built in the German drydocks of Flensburg. It’s hoped it will revolutionise the sea routes between Genoa, Livorno, Catania and Valletta, since the garage decks can hold 4,200 linear metres of cargo.
Launching the vessel Vice President and Commercial Director of Onorato Group, Alessandro Onorato said: “With this ship we will provide the best service for the country in terms of offering reliability and punctuality. Our relationship with Malta keeps growing stronger day-by-day thanks to a long-standing tradition of reliability, efficiency and most importantly friendship. The M/V Maria Grazia Onorato will continue to build on such relations which will help in growing economic activities between Malta and Italy. Together with our Maltese partners, we will continue striving to remain market leaders in the years to come.”
Mr Onorato was joined at Sunday’s ceremony by various representatives from the Maltese Government including Deputy Prime Minister Dr Chris Fearne, The Minister of Transport Dr Ian Borg and the Minister of Tourism Dr Konrad Mizzi.
