Restrictions on the number of people who can gather in public has been tightened from 15 to 10.
The new rule comes into effect from Thursday, 1st October (tomorrow).
A Government press statement was issued on Wednesday afternoon, stating that the new rule was introduced after consultations with the Superintendent of Public Health, with the aim of further limiting the spread of COVID-19.
The new rule dictates that groups of over 10 people gathered in a public space is prohibited, including while waiting in queues and on bus stops, unless social distancing is respected.
The rule does not apply to persons residing in the same home.
On Wednesday, Malta registered 78 recoveries and 23 new cases, bringing the number of active to 462. The death toll, as of Wednesday, has reached 34.
