Microsoft co-founder and multi-billionaire Bill Gates has paid tribute to his long-time confidante and friend, Warren Buffett, in celebration of the latter’s 90th birthday.
In a video reminiscent of Martha Stewart, and with Randy Newman’s ‘Youg Got a Friend’ playing in the background, Mr Gates made an arguably delicious-looking Oreo cake, topped off with a depiction of Mr Buffett’s face drawn in chocolate icing.
The 60-second-clib ends with Mr Gates cutting a slice, plating it, and leaving a message ‘Happy 90th birthday Warren’ in Oreo dust.
Mr Buffett is notorious for his sweet-tooth, and is well-known for downing half-a-dozen cans of Coke daily. He is also a big Coca-Cola investor.
His company, Berkshire Hathaway, also owns See’s Candies.
Mr Gates chose an Oreo cake as a special tribute, after, in 2016, he caught Mr Buffett scoffing down a packet of Oreos for breakfast. Writing in his personal blog, Mr Gates said:
"One thing that was surprising to learn about Warren is that he has basically stuck to eating what he liked when he was six years old..I remember one of the first times he stayed at our house and he opened up a package of Oreos to eat for breakfast. Our kids immediately demanded they have some too. He may set a poor example for young people, but it's a diet that somehow works for him."
Mr Gates and Mr Buffett famously met on 5th July 1991, when Mr Gate’s mother invited the then-Microsoft-CEO to the Gates family vacation home in Washington, to meet the Mr Buffett, who she had also invited.
