IELTS on Computer (IOC)
You have the option to take the IELTS on a computer for both the General Training and Academic tests. IELTS Listening and Speaking sections are the same for both test types, but the subject matter of the Reading and Writing sections differs depending on which test is taken.
This test requires test takers to sit the Listening, Reading and Writing tests in front of a computer with the questions presented on the screen in an official IELTS test location. The IELTS Speaking section is the same for both Academic and General Training and is taken face-to-face with an examiner (either in person or by video call).
Follow the IELTS main website to find useful information about the Computer Delivered Format.
Benefits of IELTS on Computer
IELTS on Computer has multiple perks which one should consider.
- One Skill Retake – Not happy with one of the scores you received in your previous test? Retake just that one skill to try and improve your score.
- Faster Results – Typically, results are released in 1 to 5 days.
- Faster booking – Registration closing dates are between 3 to 5 days before the tests.
- More test dates – The Malta Test Centre has opened almost one test session a week till the end of December.
Which Module is Right for You?
IELTS is available in two formats – Academic and General Training. For more information on each module please refer to the official IELTS website.
Speaking Tests
Uniquely, IELTS tests your English conversation skills through a face-to-face Speaking test which means that you are assessed by having a conversation with a real person. This is the most effective and natural way of testing your English conversation skills.
Speaking Tests can be held up to 7 days before test day. Candidates will receive an email with all the necessary information. Candidates who miss their speaking test appointment, without prior notification or other valid reason, (illness accompanied by an original medical certificate), may request a rescheduling, subject to availability, against a payment of €25.
